GENERAL INFORMATION
Welcome to the Happy Day Preschool. We
are delighted to have your child participate in our
program. This Handbook has been prepared
in order that you may know the policies and better understand the
program as we work together to help our children through a successful
year in the school.
PHILOSOPHY:
We provide a happy, loving, and stimulating environment in which
children grow at their own developmental pace. Children
are treated with utmost affection and care. Strong
friendships and cooperation among staff, parents and children are the
essential ingredients for successful growth and
development of children.
AGES:
Children are accepted from the ages of 2-1/2 years old
through
5-3/4 years old.
STAFF:
All teachers are certified by the State Licensing
Department
and
are experienced professionals who understand child development and
growth.
ADMISSION POLICIES:
- Potential student has to be
toilet-trained, and in ages of 2-1/2 years old through 5-3/4 years old.
- Copy of birth certificate is required for proof.
- Priority is
given
to sibling of current student.
- All immunization and physical exam records are needed to be
on
file before the potential student starts the program.
- A 15 minute interview between potential student,
parent/guardian,
and director is required to evaluate the readiness of the student.
PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sign up and attend the twice yearly Parent-Teacher
Conferences.
- Sign In/Out on Arrival and Departure (all those who pick-up
must
be on emergency list and show photo ID). Signature
shall be full and legal.
- Take weekly lesson plans and check for Field Trips,
Schedule
Changes, etc.
- Call if you will be late or your child will be absent.
- Check Parents Information Board for announcements.
- Check cubbies for take home art work and maintain full set
of
extra clothes. All belongings needed to be
labeled with your child’s name.
- Provide a clean sheet, small pillow and blanket for nap
time. These items need to be labeled with
your
child’s name and carried in a labeled pillowcase or paper bag. This should be taken home to wash once a month.
TRANSPORTATION:
No transportation shall be provided for pick-up and
drop-off for the
child from/to the school. It is parents’
responsibilities to make sure the child arrive safely to the school.
HOURS, FEES &
PAYMENT
SCHOOL'S
HOURS OF OPERATION:
Monday through Friday
- 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM (Full Time)
- Three days a week (Part Time) or
- Morning / Afternoon (Part Time)
School will be closed on these
holidays:
1.
New Year’s Day 5.
Independence Day
2.
Chinese New Year 6.
Labor Day
3.
President’s Day 7.
Thanksgiving (2 days)
4.
Memorial Day 8.
Christmas
VACATION DAYS:
A minimum of two weeks notice is needed prior to
child’s
leaving the program for vacation times. Tuition
for the child continues during this time to guarantee a reserved space
upon his/her return to school.
WITHDRAWAL FROM
PROGRAM:
A minimum of two weeks notice is
required to withdraw your child from the preschool program for refund
of the $200.00 deposit.
TUITION:
- The tuition fee will be due by the 1st of the month. If
fees are not paid by the fifth of the month, there will be a late
charge of $20.00 and the child may be dropped unless the parent makes
definite arrangements for the payment.
- There will be an overtime charge of $5.00 for every 5
minutes for
the parents who pick up their child after 6:00 PM.
The
late charge may be paid in the same day, or it will added to next
month’s tuition.
- A non-refundable registration fee and $200.00 refundable
deposit
will be paid upon enrollment.
HEALTH & SAFETY
MEDICATION
POLICY:
We ask that you fill out the Medication Consent Policy Form (available
from the teacher) if you would like us to dispense medicine to your
child. We can only do this if the medicine
is in the original container and labeled with prescription and you have
signed this form. We do not dispense
aspirin at any time. If your child becomes
sick at school, he/she will be isolated from the other children and we
will call you to pick up your child.
Each child is to be carefully inspected
every
morning upon entering the school. Note is
also taken of the color and condition of the child’s skin, eyes, and
overall appearance. Watch for the following symptoms:
- Glazed
appearance of eyes.
- Deep
cough.
- Inflamed
nostrils.
- Heavy
nasal discharge.
- Unusual
irritability.
- Rash,
sores, flushed appearance, clamminess, pallor
Parents are required to notify the school whenever a child has been
exposed to a contagious disease. A certificate/doctor's note is
required before
a child can be readmitted after any communicable disease and/or illness.
To ensure sanitization,
children's
sleeping cot requires
a cover sheet. (The cot’s cover sheet should be purchased from
the school for $8.00 and a plastic box for the storage of your child’s
clothes is $2.00.) Cot cover sheets and blankets will be sent
home for washing once a month.
HEALTH &
NUTRITION:
For
your child’s health and nutrition, we do not allow candy, sodas, or gum
in school.
FOOD:
The
school will provide breakfast, hot lunch and afternoon snacks from 2
food groups, such as fresh fruit, cheese, crackers, and juice.
BIRTHDAY:
The
school will celebrate the Birthday on the first Friday of the month for
all children born on the same month. The
cost of this event for each child will be $25.00. The
fee will cover A Birthday Cake, Fruit, Ice Cream, Party Favors and A
Special Gift for the Birthday Child.
MISCELLANEOUS
DISCIPLINE POLICIES:
We
follow State
law and believe in “No Corporal
Punishment Used”. Corporal punishment,
humiliation, frightening techniques, and any form of violation of
personal rights are prohibited.
